The voting for General Election 2014 has finally come to an end.. These elections were the most high tension and emotionally charged elections the world would have ever seen... One of the main reason for this was because the election was not only fought in the real world but also in the virtual one through social media... Specially the heated exchanges between BJP and AAP supporters and giving each other different names made these elections even more interesting (I was/am one of the unpaid BJP supporters and proud CONgi/AAP Zombie Bashers). The heat of this election did break several friendships (mostly virtual ones and few real ones as well)... I am happy that I got rid of few non-sense people from my social circle... (they un-friended me you know :P)

One of the most bizarre allegation that was made to me and many other Modi supporters that we are paid by BJP (Yes I did manage to purchase one whole building in Bangalore with that money).. Also that there are no Modi supporters in the real world.. most of his supporters are fake and have dummy FB and Twitter profiles...

But the fact was that Modi had a huge fan following both in the real world as well as in social media.. The whole propaganda by media which was running non-stop for 12 years straight, could not influence a large chunk of Indian population. There were people who were able to see beyond the headlines of those 24x7 propaganda channles... Most of those who supported Modi on social media were the realistic nationalists... Those who love their country and will do everything required to make it better than it is now... There were many as well who didn't liked BJP but they supported it because of Modi...

How effective was the reach of social media? How were the people who ran those pages? let's look one of the highly successful Facebook pages which endorsed Narendra Modi and is followed by 22 lakh people (that is more than the official Aam Aadmi Party page)... And yes, this page was not helped or funded by BJP. It manged to create so many fans of it's ow.. This was the work of few proud Indians who devoted their time for this cause... The trolls who keep shouting that Modi has a paid army of IT professionals should also read this story...
